Atelier Jamika – Liberec
Few words about me.
I have been interested in maths since the elementary school, so it became my field of study even later on. At the same time, even as a child, I have intuitively inclined to handicrafts. I sewed clothing for my dolls and made things with my hands. This way my inner self probably took care about balancing the logical part of me with the creative one. And so it is for my whole life until nowadays. I dont teach maths anymore, but arts stays. I had the need to touch every material I had come across. Textiles, leather, glass, wicker, wood, oil and encaustic painting – but ceramics is my favorite for years. I have passed many courses organized by academic artists, mainly on Ceramics school in Kohoutov.
I have a rented workshop close to my home and I spend plenty of my spare time there. My favourite is free work of the hand. Ornamentation is simple, mainly by patina or oxides. And sometimes engobe and glaze ofcourse. I use plaster mold to make blanks I finish afterwards by hands.
Recently I fell in love with raku technique, especially Horsehair. This unique technique of burning charmed me with its magic It has its root in Japan where is used for making a teacups for tea celebrations. They wanted to interface production with their philosophy, so they interfaced four elements: earth, fire, air and water while burning and this is how in front of your eyes arises enchanting objects. Horsehair Raku is such a technique plus laying horsehair on hot ceramic - you can see special unique pictures, every piece is original. This whole proccess is very difficult, but breathtaking.
Besides my artwork I do Art therapy. I organize small workshops for max 5 people, which can be ordered individually. I offer artwork with glass, encaustic painting, even work with ceramic clay - but ceramic is more time consuming.
My gallery is updated continuously.
